Manchester City behaved inappropriately at the DW Stadium during the fifth round loss to Wigan
Jose Mourinho has taken a swipe at Pep Guardiola after Manchester City 1-0 loss to Wigan in the fifth round FA Cup.
The Manchester United manager insisted that his side "lose with dignity" after disturbing scenes that followed Guardiola's player could not control themselves at the DW Stadium.
The Portuguese coach appeared to reference how City handled their quadruple hopes down the drain when Will Grigg struck in one of the biggest shocks in the competition's history. Mourinho explained how his side took a similar shock in the Carabao Cup when they were eliminated by Bristol City in the quarter-finals.
"Of course, we would like to be better in the Premier League, but we are where we are.
"In the Champions League we are alive. In the FA Cup we are alive.
"In the Carabao Cup, after winning last season, we lost in the quarter-final but we lost like Manchester United likes to lose – with dignity, with fair play, with participation in the happiness of a giant killer.
"So even in the Capital (Carabao) Cup, we lost against a Championship team, I would say that as a Manchester United manager that way of behaving as a big team, even in defeat we were a big team," Mourinho told BT Sport.
