Celtic Complete Loan Signing Of Charly Musonda From Chelsea (Photos)

Scottish champions Celtic have this evening confirmed the loan signing of Chelsea starlet Charly Musonda.

Musonda, a 21-year-old Belgian youth international, has been on the books of Chelsea since 2012, when he joined the club’s academy from Anderlecht.

The gifted attacking midfielder/winger has long been regarded as one of the finest talents in the youth ranks of the Blues, but has unsurprisingly struggled for first-team chances at Stamford Bridge, with the likes of Eden Hazard, Willian,Pedro and more currently sitting ahead of the Red Devils’ internationalin the pecking order at the club.

To this point in the current campaign,Musonda had appeared just 6 times for Chelsea (2 starts), contributing 1 goal and 1 assist during his limited first-team minutes.

And, as per breaking news spreading across social media this evening, Musonda has indeed left Chelsea, with the Belgian having completed a long-anticipated loan move to Scottish giants Celtic:

Speaking at Lennoxtown yesterday, the Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers said: “There were around 24 clubs that were interested in taking Charly, so for him to want to come here and for Chelsea to very happily let him come to Celtic is a great coup for Celtic.

“It’s a really exciting prospect to the club. Charly is big talent I’ve known for a few years now, and it’s a big thank-you to Chelsea Football Club because he’s really one of the shinning lights in their academy and has progressed through with various loans and has been part of their first-team squad.

“It’s a club with many fans, an unbelievable passion, and the culture is more than a club." Charly Musonda speaks after putting pen to paper on an 18-month loan deal.
